Embroidery Files

What are digital embroidery files?

Digital embroidery files are machine-readable design files used to create embroidery patterns with an embroidery machine. These files contain stitch data, color changes, needle placement, and sequence that your machine follows to complete a design. You will need an embroidery machine in order to use those files and a compatible embroidery software to edit them. These are digital downloads, no physical products are shipped. Those products are also not suitable for hand embroidery, and only the PDF file can be printed.

What formats are the files available in?

Each design comes in a variety of common embroidery file formats to ensure compatibility with most embroidery machines and software. The formats included with every download are:

DST, EXP, EXP+, HUS, JEF, PES, SHV, TAP, VIP, VP3, XXX

A PDF file with every design is included to serve as a visual guide for design placement and hooping instructions. This can help preview the stitch layout and plan your project accurately.

If you are unsure which format your machine uses, check your machine’s manual or software documentation.

Support & Troubleshooting

What should I do if the file doesn’t work?

If your embroidery files isn’t stitching as expected, don’t worry, most issues can be resolved with a few quick checks:

  1. Make sure you are using the correct file format for your embroidery machine (e.g., PES, DST, JEF, ect.). Each machines required specific formats.
  2. Double check you have the correct needle size for your fabric, proper stabilizer, and proper hooping.
  3. Inspect your machine set-up. Is the thread properly threaded? Is the bobbin correctly inserted? Is the machine clean and not jammed?
  4. Check your machine’s push and pull compensation settings. This affects how the stitches land, especially in stretchy or knit fabric.
  5. Preview the design on your machine screen, if available, to ensure it loads properly before stitching.

If you have checked all of the above and are still having issues, feel free to contact us with:

  • Your machine model
  • The file format you used
  • A description or photo of the problem

We are happy to help you whenever we can, but unfortunately, we cannot promise solutions for all technical issues due to the wide variety of machines, materials, and user setups.
